Quick Introduction to InVS

Table of Contents

Main Interface

InVS has a similar layout to Hybrid DVR software, except for the toolbar and the new system log area. The toolbar is below the preview area, and the system log is right underneath the toolbar. The right panel consists of Device List, Color/Audio, PTZ, and DI/DO Control.

The toolbar gives access to system-wide settings as illustrated by the image below.

Right-clicking on a camera's preview image gives access to settings related to this camera, and some frequently used features such as locking the screen and changing preview layout.

Add IP Device

InVS supports both NVR and IP cameras. To add devices, open Device Management window by clicking on Manage Devices button in the toolbar. All devices currently in the system will be listed in this window.

You can add device by IP address, or use the Auto Search&Add Device feature.

Clicking on Auto Search&Add Device button brings up the following window.

Here you need to enter the range of IP address to search, for example starting at 192.168.1.1 and ending at 192.168.1.240. Click on Start Auto Search&Add to start the process.

The screenshot below shows auto search&add in progress. Click on Stop Auto Search&Add to stop, then you can examine the log output for successes and failures.

Alternatively, you can add device by its IP address as shown below.

Channel Settings

To change settings for a particular channel, clicking on Channel Settings button in the toolbar.

First select the device you wish to edit. Then choose the appropriate group of settings on the left. Channel settings are divided into Display, Video, Motion Detection, Privacy Mask, Alarm Input, PTZ, and Linkage.

System Settings

To change system settings, clicking on System Settings button in the toolbar.

Choose a settings group on the left. Available settings are: General, Network, Record Schedule, Log Color, Exception, and User Management.

Record Schedule

You can change the record schedule for all channels in system settings.

The schedule table is divided into 30-minute blocks. First click on the desired record mode, then color in the table cells by clicking on them. Click and drag to color many cells at once.

If you have chosen sensor or motion record, remember to configure the relevant sensor and motion detection settings.

Playback

Click on the Playback button in the toolbar to enter Playback.

First you need to specify a date and time for playback. Double click on a date in the calendar. A window will popup for you to specify a time period for that date. If you have many cameras, it may take a few minutes for the system to search through the index.

After search is done, the playback table will be populated with color blocks indicating the type of recording for that time. Double click inside the table to begin playback.

Preview Layout

You can quickly switch between different split layouts by clicking on the Split View button in the toolbar.

To apply a view group to current preview area, right click inside the preview area, go to Group View&Settings and the desired view group.

View Group Settings

InVS allows you to create your own view groups. A view group is a predefined preview layout specifying the view layout and display arrangement of channels. You can create or edit view groups by clicking on the Group View&Settings button in the toolbar.

A simple view group configuration is shown below. You can make one view window display multiple channels by dragging and dropping channels from the device list on the left. The interval dropdown specifies how long to display a channel before switching to the next one. To remove a channel from a view window, double click on the device name or channel name.
